Cart Shed Delicatessen

Neal’s Yard Cheese

To some it’s a particularly tasty dairy product; to us, it’s a way of life. Yep, we take cheese pretty seriously here at Gog Magog Hills. And that’s because we know just how much work the small, artisan producers that make it put in. Whether it’s Anne and Andy Wigmore making their Ewe and Cow’s milk soft cheeses from a converted garage at the end of their garden, or Mary Holbrook who has spent the past 30 years building her 100-strong herd of goats for her exceptional goat’s cheese, Cardo, Tymsboro and Sleightlet, we know that all the producers put their all into their cheeses.

Most of our range is sourced from the UK but of course we also stock some of the most important continental ones as well. Well, we know that life without Parmesan, Brie or Mozzarella would be pretty bleak and so Neal’s Yard bring us the best of those as well.

We take great pride in our range of Neal’s Yard cheese and we want to show it off, so please come by and try some. Our enthusiasm for cheese is catching – so watch out; when you venture into the Cart Shed we’ll be there to tempt you with tasters of our favourites.

Ham and charcuterie

With a top class butchery on site what kind of farm shop would be if we didn’t offer our own range of hams? So that’s why we offer three – our classic home-cooked ham, a marmalade glazed ham and a black ham, baked with a glaze of porter and molasses. All of our hams are brined and roasted by us on the farm. Pop in to the Cart Shed and we can cut it thick for your ham, egg and chips, or as fine as paper for those delicate ham sandwiches – just ask and one of our lovely delicatessen staff will be pleased to help.

We also make salt beef, porchetta and haslet on a regular basis and our butchers are always experimenting with recipes, old and new, so watch out for more meaty offerings. Best of all you can always try a tasty morsel when you pop in.

Our charcuterie range also includes a great selection of chorizo, salamis and Serrano hams.

Fresh Bread

There’s nothing quite like a hunk of fresh bread, whether you slather it with butter and jam or prefer it with a wedge of cheese. We have sourced bread from two local bakers that we think are the best around. Every morning Balzano’s on Cherry Hinton road deliver an assortment of their cobs, loaves and sticks, all crisp and fresh from the oven. Great with a bowl of steaming hot soup. We then have Cobs Bakery, from just off Milton Road, who bring in their range of organic loaves, floury baps and much more. Their extensive range is wrapped and perfect for everyday use.

Olives & Antipasti

Head over to the Cart Shed for a great range of olives and antipasti. We’ve got olives stuffed with feta, olives stuffed with almonds and everything in between; we’ve even got tomatoes stuffed with olives for a bit of a twist. There’s herby garlic and pepperabica red peppers to add a bit of antipasti variety. In short there’s all nibbles you need for those pre-dinner martinis.

Monmouth Coffee

We have recently started stocking the fabulous Monmouth coffee. If you’re lucky enough to have tried their brews then you’ll know why. Monmouth goes to a lot of trouble to make sure that their coffees are the best. They travel extensively (nice for some!) to find the best single farms, estates and cooperatives out there. They build relationships with their coffee growers to make sure their beans are the very best. The result is a complex, rich cup of coffee that is hard to beat. You can now buy their beans and coffee grounds in the Cart Shed.
